Music

Curriculum Intent

Our music curriculum at St Georges C of E Primary School supports our ethos of Believe, Belong and Flourish by inspiring pupils to believe in their creative potential, fostering a sense of belonging through shared musical experiences, and enabling every child to flourish through performance, expression and achievement.

Through the course of learning, and incorporating planned repetition, children will listen to and appreciate a range of music; develop a musical vocabulary; understand the inter-related musical dimensions of pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and musical notations. Children will have opportunities to create and compose music of their own and understand the use of technology to create/ perform music.

Throughout the school there are opportunities to perform music with others and to sing. In key stage 2 pupils also have the chance to learn a musical instrument.

We provide teaching utilising Kapow Primary's music scheme, for further details please link here
