The Big Draw Festival 2023 Winners
We are delighted to announce that St George's CE Primary School have won The Big Draw Schools Award for The Big Draw Festival 2023!
The judges said our 'Drawing with Senses' project ‘stood out for its originality, inclusivity, strong sense of community engagement, and creative exploration of the theme. The judges were particularly impressed with the remarkable range of sensory experiences you offered, from walking drawings in the garden to immersive shadow play in the sensory room. It was heartening to hear how your event brought together pupils, staff, families, and neighbours for a joyful, inclusive and non-judgemental celebration of creativity. It is clear that your efforts made a lasting impact, and we are very proud to recognise your accomplishment!’
The project was lead by artist teachers Helen Zihni and Claire Horacek, and welcomed 150 people, of all ages, to St George’s to enjoy a day of creativity, based on seeing, hearing, smelling, touching and tasting. The Big Draw Festival is a worldwide celebration of drawing. Since 2006 the school has won multiple awards for our Big Draw projects.
A spokesperson for the school said: “We are all delighted to have been awarded the Big Draw Schools Award for our Drawing the Senses day! It was a joyous school event where experimentation and creativity was celebrated by the whole community. St George’s CE Primary School loves ‘The Big Draw’, it is an important annual event in the school’s calendar”.
